/Motion graphics and concept design for the proposed Legacy Gallery at the JFK Presidential Library & Museum for Small Design Firm.
Lenses of Influence
A folded wall alternates between a graphic introduction and a dynamic projection anchored by a touchscreen. Each collage illustrates Kennedy’s impact in one of four specific areas. These “Lenses of Influence” are science/technology, arts/culture, civil rights, international relations/engagement. The content in each fold can be explored at a deeper level at the touchscreen kiosk. The on-screen content is then reflected in the projection above for those visitors standing behind the user.
His Words
This exhibit consists of four acoustic zones and is the first area visitors encounter upon entering the gallery. His Words is a bright, active space. Upon entering each zone, visitors trigger a speech and can lean against a rail that also provides simple controls.
A quote by Kennedy scrolls across a curved projection screen as a series of speakers read the quote. Kennedy himself starts the quote. Inspiring speakers who have incorporated Kennedy’s words into their own speeches continue the quote passing the text forward in time. This demonstrates that the issues and ideas Kennedy addressed remain relevant and compelling.
His Echoes
Kennedy’s words are woven into our shared cultural experience. We continue to reference him, sometimes unconsciously, as is shown in this exhibit, which mines social media for references to President Kennedy’s words. Visitors dial up a Kennedy quote with a large wheel. The exhibit then searches social media for distinctive fragments of the selected quote. The results are displayed on one of four large touchscreens.
